| STORY THEATER WITH MISS RITA STUDENT ENRICHMENT PROGRAM
Miss
Rita provides a wonderful addition to your student’s language arts
experience. The Storytheater program consists of three presentations a
year in each school. Two books come alive in every presentation.
Storytheater
is a delightful way to introduce literature to children. Miss Rita’s
method of presentation is to dramatize children’s books just like a
real theater production. Scenery, costumes, props, stick puppets, sound
effects and lighting are incorporated into each outstanding 30-minute
program. At the conclusion of each story, children answer comprehension
questions and receive follow-up activities.
When dramatic storytelling is incorporated into the curriculum children develop:
Listening and language skills, an appreciation of the arts, an enthusiasm for self-expression and divergent thinking skills.

The program also provides:
Vocabulary enrichment, visual and auditory stimulation and a setting for positive social interaction and extension activities.
Studies
have shown that when books are presented dramatically, children develop
a greater appreciation for literature and are able to remember stories
for a longer time.

| Rita Adriance has been involved in theater as an actress, director, producer and educator for over thirty years – working with people of all ages from toddlers to senior adults. “Miss Rita” performs on a regular basis throughout the school year in both public and private schools. In her outstanding one-woman show she brings children’s literature to life with scenery, costumes, props and sound effects.
Ms. Adriance provides innovative staff training workshops on ways to incorporate drama into the academic curriculum. She also writes, records and publishes educational language arts and drama materials for young children.
Rita Adriance has an MA in Theater Administration from the University of Miami, a BA in English and Drama from Concordia University, and a Diploma in Education from MacDonald College. She brings a wealth of experience, education and training to all of the staff, parents and students in her programs.
